| The KGMU Poison Information Centre, established in September 2024, functions under the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology as part of the dedicated Toxicology Unit at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow. The Centre provides round-the-clock toxicology support and guidance to healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and the general public. With a mission to reduce morbidity and mortality due to poisoning, the Centre offers evidence-based advice for the identification, diagnosis, and management of poisoning cases. In addition to clinical support, it also aims to enhance public awareness, promote rational use of antidotes, and support training and education in toxicology. Available in English and Hindi, the Centre operates 24/7 to ensure timely and accessible information for all types of poisoning emergencies. Whether it’s a suspected poisoning case in the ER, a query from a remote health center, or a student seeking toxicology resources — the KGMU PIC serves as a vital link between toxicology science and clinical care. |
