Library Rules

FOLLOWING CATEGORY OF PERSONS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

Ad-hoc Faculty/ Contract Faculty/ Pool Officer	Membership Application forwarded by HOD (Dean, if the applicant is HOD)
PG’s students	Produce his/her fee receipt with Membership Application forwarded by their HOD along with two photographs
Non PG Junior Residents	Produce his/her office order with Membership Application forwarded by their HOD along with two photographs
PG students (SC/ST)	Membership Application forwarded by their HOD & certified photocopy of SC/ST certificate along with two photographs
UG students (SC/ST)	Produce his/her certified photocopy of I-Card/fee receipt& SC/ST certificate along with two photographs
UG students	Produce his/her certified photocopy of I-Card/fee receipt with two photographs
Nursing/ Paramedical Students	Produce his/her certified photocopy of I-Card/fee receipt along with two photographs
Research/Ph.D. Scholar	Produce his/her office order/fee receipt with Membership Application forwarded by their HOD along with two photographs

LOST LIBRARY CARD:

The loss of Library Card has to be reported in writing to the library immediately. The duplicate Library Card will be issued after payment of Rs.25/-. The member will be responsible for any loss, which the library may suffer due to misuse of his/her Library Card. The liability of member shall continue till he/she surrenders his/her cards or reports the loss of his/her cards to the library.
Library Card of habitual defaulters can be detained for a period of 6 months and entry to library can be banned during this period.

When a Student completes his/her education, he /she must obtain a “NO-Dues Certificate” from the Library and submit Library card.

DUTIES OF MEMBERS:

Always carry your Library Card when coming to the library.
Do not damage any material in the library.
Do not tear, fold or underline pages of books, journals or magazines.
Inform Library-In-charge if anyone is found involved in any suspicious activity in the library premises.
Maintain silence in the library premises.
Return documents on time.
Do not dislocate documents from its position on the shelves, if not required for consultation.
Be polite and gentle in your demeanor.
Borrowers have to observe the physical condition of the books/journals before borrowing and return them in the same condition. Any damage at the time of issue should be informed to the issuing staff, otherwise they will be held responsible for any damage noticed at the time of returning.
Keep your library, including the lawns outside, clean. Drop all the litter in the litter bins provided inside the reading rooms and around the library lawns.
Request others to do the same.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Entry to the library premises is allowed to persons carrying Identity Cards of Library or University.
Library has an open access system.
All the shelves have subject citations.
Search any print documents holding in library through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is available on the computer at main entrance gate via URL http://172.16.26.35
Author/Subject classified catalogue is available at the 3rd floor, Block B, which may be referred in case of difficulty.
Identity Cards can be checked by library staff or their appointees who are carrying their ID themselves and the administration reserves the right to ask any user who is not complying with library rules &/or not carrying the library Identity Card in the library premises to leave the library or even cancel the membership.
The reminders for the overdue books are sent but it is not obligatory on the part of the library authorities to do so. Members are advised to be vigilant themselves to avoid the overdue.
Though outsiders are not allowed, but in some special cases access can be permitted by Honorary Librarian/Library In-charge. This permission HAS TO BE in writing.
Every department can borrow few books for ready reference. Only those books, which have more than one copy, can be issued to the department against the signature of the departmental head. If single copy, will be kept in reference section only.
