About Department BRIEF
The Department of Hospital Administration has started functioning in KGMU with
effect from Jun 2015. Department has been recognised by MCI to start MD (Hospital Administration)
from the academic session 2017 - 2018 with permission to take 02 (two) students per year. Thus,
KGMU becomes pioneer institute to start MD (Hospital Administration) in north India. It is envisaged
to evolve the Department into a centre of excellence for teaching, training and research in the field
of Hospital Administration and Management.
The Department is actively involved in administration of Hospitals associated to KGMU.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE INSTITUTE
All faculty members of the department are assigned independent charges of
hospital administration in various patient care centres of the University. The Department periodically
organizes training programs for Residents/Nursing staff on various aspects of hospital administration.
The Department is distinctively involved at KGMU:- • Contribution in day-to-day functioning
of KGMU. • Management of various centres and departments as per instructions. • Implementation
of various programmes in KGMU like infection control programme, patient safety programme, etc.
• Progressing with Accreditation programme in KGMU • Residents / Nursing Staff Training •
Human Resource Management by rationalisation of manpower • Rationalisation of user charges.
• Rationalisation of space allocation. • Medical store management. • Engineering services
management. • Making standard operating procedures. • Conduct training of interns from
the field of Hospital Administration from various other institutes. • Contribution to various
committees as chairman/Member.
FUTURE VISION
• MCI Recognition of Department of Hospital Administration for running of MD (HA) course.
• Sanction of 06 Senior Residents (Proposal already forwarded) • Quality Cell Establishment
& sanction of regular post of Infection Control Nurse, Healthcare Quality Assurance Officer
& Quality Manager for the hospital services. • To develop and patent National Patient
Care Standards for various HCW. • To develop manpower norms for Hospital Administration cadre.
• Training for quality team of Uttar Pradesh. • Develop quality student for medical
college. • Develop modules for Nurse management.
CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION
Department of Hospital Administration organised the following Conferences/ CMEs/
Workshops/ Training Programme: - • Workshop cum Seminar on Infection Control and prevention in
collaboration with Academy of Hospital Administration, NOIDA • CME on Haemovigilance in
collaboration with NIB, NOIDA. • Series of lectures for Health Administrators of state of
UP on Patient Safety & Infection Control in collaboration with NHM. • Series of lectures for
Health Administrators of state of UP on Patient Safety & Infection Control in collaboration with
SGPGI. • Lecture on Prevention of HAI for Dept of Medicine, KGMU. • Lecture on Infection
Control in ICU for Dept of Anaesthesia, KGMU. • Workshop at 37th Annual Conference of UP
chapter of Association of Physicians of India. • Annual Conference of Indian Society of
Hospital Waste Management. • CME on materials and inventory management excellence
