LITHO URO CENTRE
The Litho Uro Center which is on the ground floor has been developed keeping the view the convenience of the patients. Soon after physician consultation patients go directly to Litho Uro Center and get the various pathological and diagnostic tests done. Most reports are made available immediately to the patients. This is a unique design and has been greatly appreciated by the patients and many visitors to our department.
This center in the epicenter of all urological activities, this area is always alive with action till the time it is open from 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM. This area encompasses the following working areas:

Lithotripsy Unit
The Dornier Sigma Machine is installed in the department for this purpose. Our machine has treated Four Thousand Nine Hundred Fifty Nine (4959) new patients of kidney and ureteric stones till 16th November, 2023
Urodynamic Unit
This specialized test is available in only few places in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Our center is equipped with the latest model from Dantec Company. This test is required in patients of voiding problems like neurological disease.
Uroradiology
This unit has a 500 MA x-ray machine and ultrasound facility including a transrectal probe to evaluate prostatic problems. For most urological conditions these two tests are enough to arrive at a diagnosis. The state of art urethrograms, cystograms and IVP are done here.
Uropathology
It is primarily a collection center and the specimens are sent to the Department of Pathology and Microbiology. The patients they can give their samples here and also collect their reports from this room.
Uropharmacy
A dedicated drug store run by KGMU Welfare Society provides all the medicines and surgical consumables at 20% - 25% lesser prize than the open market.
OPD Diagnostic Endondoscopy SUIT/OT
Situated on the ground floor adjacent to Litho-Uro Center, this OT has been developed for minor urological procedures like cystoscopy, DJ stent removal, DJ stent placement, Trocar cystostomy, bladder biopsy, prostate biopsy and wound debridement. As procedures in this OT are performed every day it has expedited the overall diagnosis and treatment of the patients.
First Floor Services
All activities related to No Scalpel Vasectomy are monitored from this office.
The first floor of urology building houses the general ward, office of sister in-charge, nurse station, resident room, library and ward.
GENERAL WARD
It has strength of 54 beds – 30 Beds in Urology Ward and 24 beds in Isolation ward.
POST-OP WARD WITH ICU
It has strength of 4 beds.
RESIDENT ROOM
There is a separate resident room on this floor along with a large departmental library.
Second Floor Services
Constructed in 2006 this floor houses the “R. P. Sahi Urology OT Complex”, post-operative ward and attendant waiting area. It has three separate operation theatres.
Endourological OT
Here various endoscopic urological procedures are performed like transurethral resection of prostate (TURP), urinary bladder tumor (TURBT), urethral stricture (OIU), ureteroscopy and percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). It has C-arm compatible OT table, C-arm image intensifier and plant for generation of RO water. The OT has most of the commonly required endoscopic instruments used for various procedures.
Laparoscopic Urology OT
In this OT there is facility of endo-vision camera for performing laparoscopic procedures. Most commonly used laparoscopic instruments are also installed there permanently.
Open Urology OT
Regular open surgeries including major urooncological and reconstructive urologic procedures are performed in this OT. This OT is connected to the laparoscopic OT so that these OTs can also be used during renal transplantation in future.
Laser Machine
The department has a 100 W Holmium Laser and a KTP Laser. These are used in patient of BPH.
Post-Operative Ward
Adjacent to the OT complex is the post-operative ward - divided into two parts one three bedded, isolated air conditioned area for sick patients and other four bedded general area.
